Over 650 visitors from 17 countries took part in the 12th edition of Food Valley Expo. Innovation and business tours, impressive pitches of startups, new technology and the latest insights in the field of nutrition and health. The Food Valley Expo 2016 offered plenty of opportunity to get new ideas and to meet business partners.
Throughout the day there was plenty of opportunity to visit the exhibition, where over 50 companies brought their latest developments to the attention. This year StartLife had a prominent stand on the Expo floor centrally located, the StartLife Cafe. Pectcof, GreenFood50, Seamore, Waterly, Sigrow, B-Mex and Hudson River Biotechnology presented their products at the national and international public, including to State Secretary for Economic Affairs, Martijn van Dam.
Food Valley Award
Consulting firm Q-Point BV is with his approach against food waste been named the winner of the Food Valley Award 2016. The method, used successfully in Zoo restaurants, has great potential. Netherlands is alone in the hospitality industry an estimated 51,000 tons (0.4 billion euros) a year on food wasted.
StartLife Cafe was the stage for a lively interview with some StartLife startups, including with
Bart Verweijen of Waterly and with Willem Sodderland of Seamore. The place where you met the startups in a different way. The place where innovative ideas emerged spontaneously! With help from moderators Wilbert van de Kamp (Youth Food Movement) and Emma Holmes (Wageningen Comedy Club).
